Indonesian teams began to compete in the World Universities Debating Championships in 1999 at Ateneo de Manila University, the first WUDC held in Asia. No Indonesian team have broken into the main break but since the opening of the separate English as Second Language (ESL) and English as Foreign Language (EFL) breaks, several teams managed to proceed into the knockout rounds of these categories. In 2006, a team from Universitas Indonesia became the first to break from the preliminary stage and enter the ESL knockouts. In 2014, Institut Teknologi Bandung won the EFL category, giving Indonesia its firsy WUDC trophy. Here are the best Indonesian achievements in WUDC from year to year.
