JOVED 2011: Three UI Teams Advance to Quarters

All of Universitas Indonesia's 3 teams at the 2011 Java Overland Varsities English Debate marched to the quarterfinals after beating their opponents today. An all-UI final is still a possibility. Binus International could not match that feat as 2 teams fell in the octofinals, leaving only one squad standing. The top 8 teams of the preliminaries are still intact.


All remaining stages will take place tomorrow. The match-up for the quarterfinals looks like this:

The octofinals used the last batch of prepared motions, ascertaining further rounds will be all impromptu. The topics debated today came from the selection below: 

• THW prefer multilateral party to bilateral for settling the dispute of Preah Vihear Temple hinterland
• THBT the West Bank barrier should not be dismantled in order to attain peace between both conflicting parties
• THBT India should save itself the trouble and let Kashmir
