This year's ALSA UI English Competition, Indonesia's longest running debate tournament, will take place from April 28 to May 3 in Depok, coinciding with the UMM English Fiesta in Malang. The 3-on-3 ALSA E-Comp is still considered as the top tournament for high schools in Indonesia and the breeding ground for future varsity debaters. Its university level debates have existed before Indonesian teams first knew about internationally accepted debating formats in 1997. It was also the first Indonesian event that invited Southeast Asian debating teams to participate. Registration for the 2011 ALSA E-Comp will open on March 1.
