UI-ITB Pair Win the JFF Harry Potter Debates

The name of the first debating competition in the new academic year was Just For Fun and the Harry Potter theme suggested a lighthearted start to the season. But the final yesterday at Universitas Indonesia was anything but fluffy. The motion was "In Times of War, This House Would Grant Aurors the Right to Utilize the Unforgivable Curses", a gritty sounding topic even for those without prior knowledge of Harry Potter terminology, and some of the finalists were past JOVED and ALSA champs with competitive streak.

The crown of this open tournament went to Institut Teknologi Bandung's Rifan Ibnu Rahman, who finally tasted victory after faltering in 4 previous grand finals this year, and his partner Aulia Anggita from UI. They called their composite team "The Squib" (HP translation: a wizard family member without magical powers).
