ALSA UI E-Comp 2013: No Institution with 2 Teams in Semi

The 8 teams still standing in the 2013 ALSA UI English Competition come from 8 different institutions; none managed to get a second seat for the semifinals tomorrow. Reigning champions Universitas Indonesia and SMA 4 Denpasar still have the chance to complete a hat-trick this year but both of their surviving teams face tough rivals. Both had another team in the elimination stage but those squads bowed out today.

In the high school level, #1 SMA 1 Denpasar (Hansen Tanaka, Aldwin Wijaya, Kaizar Nararya) reached the semifinals undefeated. In the varsity section, #1 Universitas Gadjah Mada A (Amir Abdul Aziz, Nabila Aghniarizqa, Alif Satria) and #2 Universitas Indonesia A (Anastasia Sijabat, Elghafiky Bimardhika, Nisrina Praharso) also have beaten all of their opponents so far.

E-Comp is not only the longest-running debate contest in Indonesia. It is also the only competition in the country with two 50-team tournaments running parallel. For high schools in Indonesia, this is the most prestigious institution-based tourney. The varsity part is known as one of the three classics in this country.
