JOVED 2013: All-Girls UI Trio Sole Unbeaten Team Before R6

Universitas Indonesia B (Aulia Anggita, Elvia Sumayastra, Magreta Kailla Adenta) stepped into the last preliminary round in the 2013 Java Overland Varsities English Debate as the only team with 5 wins. The outcome of R6 will only be clear after the break announcement on Monday. In R6, the all-girls UI B faced Universitas Gadjah Mada A (Alif Satria, Cinantyan Punjung, Thoriq Murtadho), the same team they defeated in R5. Besides UGM A, UGM B and UI A also had a 4-1 record before R6.

Besides these 4 favourites, host Universitas Brawijaya A could also break high after only suffering from one loss so far. There are 44 teams competing in the 17th edition of JOVED, the first debating tournament in Indonesia that used an internationally accepted format. Strong Jakarta private schools Universitas Atma Jaya and Binus University, which have won this competition before, are not present. UI earned the JOVED title last year without dropping a single debate but the powerhouse is still looking for its first classic trophy in 2013.
