IVED 2012: UI 1 Breaks First with the Only Clean Sheet

Universitas Indonesia 1 (Aulia Anggita, Bramesada Prasastyoga, Egalita Irfan) became the first team to advance into the knockouts of the 15th Indonesian Varsities English Debate after winning all 6 preliminary rounds. No other team matched this feat. In the last prelim, they forced Universitas Gadjah Mada 1 (Cinantyan Punjung, Gentur Adiutama, Jhendra Samodra) to bow for the first time in the tournament. UGM 1 broke fourth. The two teams could meet again in the semifinals.

Two other UI teams also broke but UI 2 and UI 3 have to face each other in the octofinals. All 3 teams from Binus International also made the cut. The top 16 teams on the tab will fight in the knockouts tomorrow for the national crown. No team from outside the island of Java qualified for the main elimination stage. But 2 teams from Sulawesi's Universitas Hasanuddin progressed into the separate novice competition.  The main and novice break lists are as follows:
