Padjadjaran Wins EU-IDC, Its First Trophy in 2011

Universitas Padjadjaran (Rendy Prahara, Mayang Puspita, Novryan Pahlawan) defeated Universitas Gadjah Mada (Erwina Salsabila, Ika Septihandayani, Irwan Ferdiansyah) in the final of the 2nd European Union Inter-varsity Debating Championships, grabbing the school's first debate trophy in 2011 and securing internships at the international body. Unpad's most previous victory was the 2010 Binus International Debate where Mayang was also part of the winning team.

Like last year, EU-IDC 2011 used an independently modified 3-on-3 format and employed political celebrities as judges. This year's event first received flak from the Indonesian debating community for its original ignorance to internationally accepted debating rules. The criticism subsided after EU agreed to recruit seasoned debaters as consultants.
