The motions for the prepared rounds of the 2011 World Schools Debating Championships are out, including the topic for the grand final debate that focuses on the impact of Facebook in recent revolutions this year. Four other revealed motions are for the odd-numbered rounds in the preliminary stage, which has eight debates. WSDC does not use the normal power matching system in the preliminaries. Matches in the first 8 rounds are predetermined using a system that gives each team reasonably equal opportunity to meet opponents from different levels, which are based on achievements in past WUDCs. The prepared motions for the upcoming WSDC that will take place in Dundee, Scotland from September 16 to 26 are as follows.
R1 THW offer dictators immunity in return for leaving power
R3 THBT Universal Primary Education is a misallocation of resources for the developing world
R5 THW legalise the sale of human organs
R7 THBT women can only achieve equality under a secular system of government
GF THBT autocracy is doomed in the age of Facebook
Good luck to Team Indonesia in preparing for WSDC 2011.
