Caird Hall - Venue for WSDC 2011 Final |
Each team is designed to face 8 opponents in the first stage drawn from 8 different groups. The divisions are based on victories and judge votes in the past 3 championships. The WSDC preliminaries are predetermined with 4 rounds using prepared motions while the other 4 are impromptu debates. Only the top 16 can proceed to the knockout rounds. While victory points are the ultimate decider like in any other debating competition, judge votes have more value in WSDC than team scores.
Indonesia is ranked #27 of 48 contestants, sitting in the E group. This year's team consist of Ruth Gracia Nainggolan (SMA 81 Jakarta), Nudzran Yusya (SMA Modal Bangsa Aceh), Wisnu Aryo Setio (SMA 5 Bandung) and Margreta Kailla Adenta (SMA 2 Tangerang Selatan). Their coaches are Eldhianto Jusuf (Universitas Gadjah Mada) and Ahmad Naufal Dai (Universitas Indonesia). This team will warm up at the Java Overland Varsities English Debate later this month.
